Obituary of Edward James Riker

Edward James Riker, 89 Edward James Riker, 89 , of Treasure Island, Florida, passed away in St. Petersburg, Florida, on December 31, 2016. Born and raised in the Taylortown section of Montville, NJ, Edward lived in Rockaway, Lake Forest and Lake Mohawk NJ, before retiring to Treasure Island, Florida. Edward was an entrepreneur, auto mechanic, and owned a Gulf Station in Rockaway. He also was the owner of Colonial Liquor Shop in Madison. Edward started North Jersey Auto Wreckers in Byram. Edward had a passion for many things, including being a race car stock driver in NASCAR- sanctioned races. He was also a Technical Inspector for Championship Auto Racing Teams ( CART, subsequently the Indy Racing League). Edward is survived by his loving children William, John, Thomas, Joan Reason, Janet Togno and Judy Brunone. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 6 great – grandchildren. Edward was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Joan Riker and his caring sister Virginia Tauber. Visiting will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 3-7 PM at Dangler, Lewis and Carey Funeral Home, 312 West Main Street in Boonton. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday January 5, 2017 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 910 Birch Street, Boonton , NJ at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow immediately at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
