Samuel Alvine Jr., 93, passed away Monday, April 13, 2015 at Inglemoor Rehabilitation Care Center, in Livingston. He was born and raised in Newark; and lived in Bloomfield before moving to Montville in 1959. Sam worked as a Design Engineer for Singer-Kearfott in Little Falls, before retiring. He proudly served in the US Air Force in WWII as a flight officer and navigator on a B-17 Flying Fortress with the 487th Bomber Group. He flew 8 missions, was shot down during the Battle of the Bulge, and rescued by the Resistance. Samuel was the beloved husband of 66 years to Jeanne Alvine (nee Hopkins), loving father of Deborah Lobrovich, Barbara Rizzo and her husband Anthony, Samuel and his wife MaryAnn; cherished grandfather of Richard, Matthew, Rebecca, Tony, Jessica, Luke, Eamon and Claire; and great grandfather of Anthony IV. Relatives and friends may visit on Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 3 to 7 PM at Dangler Lewis and Carey Funeral Home, 312 West Main St., in Boonton. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be held privately.
