I am so sorry to hear of your great loss. Recently I lost my dear mother, and within 30 days
I also lost my mother-in-law. What helped us during this time period was the comfort from
the Holy Bible, like at Isaiah 25 verse 8 - "The Sovereign Lord will swallow up death
forever and wipe away the tears from all faces." Also at Revelation 21 verse 4 we find
God's promise to remove both pain and death. For more comfort, I turn to the website
at: www.jw.org (Search: Comfort)

Paul and I were close confidants on many topics, in HS and afterwards.
Through that, my late Parents and Paul’s Mom became friends.
My late Father Louis at 70yo, after getting 2nd opinions, chose Paul, an extraordinarily skilled orthopedic surgeon, to do Dad’s long-needed right hip replacement surgery circa 1989. The results were stunningly terrific!! Paul came to the house several days after the surgery at St Clare’s Denville, as I was visiting on return (passing through to Seattle) from Boeing business in Spain. Following Paul giving my Dad a “pro bono” progress exam and therapy advise at the home on Horseneck Road, Paul and I spent a few hours catching up on each other’s lives.
Paul was an exceptionally skilled doctor/surgeon with a good heart.
A loss to us all, and to the medical community and his patients.

Our sincere condolences go out to Paul's family, especially his son Greg who's just as handsome as his Dad. I'm certain, you must know Your father had a huge heart & would help anyone in need . He was kind, gentle & very patient soul. With a huge smile , Paul told us about his most recent granddaughter your baby girl & how beautiful she is.
Paul my sweet, How glad Tom & I were to visit you shortly after your Birthday this past May.
Happily Reminiscing with you over the many years past since I was a young teenager. & how we both once discussed in the kitchen , the thermodynamics of percolating coffee !!
How fondly I remember you while I was in college & you permitted me to observe , scrubbed in, your O.R. Suite as a young student Nurse in training. I remember vividly how you patiently
explained that entire total knee replacement with me, detailing the anatomy, measurements While explaining every step of that intricate procedure. Confirming my comprehension as you asked me to reiiterate all that you were explaining. You my friend were not only a kind , loveable & a most brilliant Man; but an extraordinarily gifted Orthopedic Surgeon. I knew from that day forward, I only wanted to work in the Operating room & I enjoyed 35 yrs following my passion. Thank you for touching my life in such a profound way.
Paul, you will forever be lovingly remembered , cherished & missed by all who knew you . However , you will live on in our hearts & in our minds . Alas, my sweet friend be at peace resting in God's eternal embrace. Most Sincerely ,
Theresa ( Federico) Annos RN , & husband Tom Annos , MD .

I was so saddened to learn of Paul's death. I wish to extend my most heartfelt condolences to his wife, children, and sister. Paul was an old friend. My vivid memories of him are beyond counting. They go back to our freshman year at Boonton High School. Paul was an outstanding surgeon. In 1977 he replaced my mother's hip. She was sixty-six at the time. Within two weeks of the operation she was walking without assistance. Paul was a great one for telling stories, and I was an eager listener. He once told me of a sudden operation he had to perform as a freshly minted doctor during his year as an intern at a hospital in Newark. His story left me in awe. He was on duty in the emergency room, with only a nurse to assist him. A young man was brought in who had suffered a stab wound to the abdomen. He was unconscious, and his pulse was faint. Paul had to make an instant diagnosis with no one else to consult. From the symptoms he concluded that the wound had reached the heart. If the victim's life was to be saved, Paul would have to perform open heart surgery, without anesthetic and with only the nurse to help. After he made an incision to reveal the sternum, he used shears to cut it. Then he reached in with his hands and pulled the ribs apart to expose the heart. Sure enough, the heart had been punctured. Paul stitched up the heart as it beat, and immediately the pulse strengthened. The man would survive. The next day he was conscious and cursing the hospital staff. Paul's action showed astonishing self-assurance. Imagine if his diagnosis had been wrong! The last time I saw Paul was this past May, when Ross Marlay and I visited him in Lincoln Park. His memory of the events of our youth remained sharp. We had a good time reminiscing. Once again, let me express my deep regret at Paul's passing.
