Obituary of William Thomas Watson

William Thomas Watson, 78, formerly of Boonton, passed away on February 20, 2015 at Coral Landings Assisted Living Memory Care Vista Hospice, in St. Augustine, FL., after a long-term illness. He was born in Waterbury, Ct. to the late William T. Watson and the late Lena Rensoni Watson Grant. After graduating High School, Mr. Watson proudly served in the US Marine Corps. He later attended and graduated from NYU and also worked there for many years. During William's younger years, the African American Institute sent him and his family to Zambia, Africa to build and organize a school to prepare students for college. William was employed by John Hancock Financial Services as a Financial Manager, before retiring. He enjoyed golfing and really enjoyed coaching and refereeing for the Boonton Grayhawks Youth Football League, for 18 years. William is survived by his beloved wife, Carmen R. Watson; three sons – William E. Watson, Stephen T. Watson, and Rodney W. Watson; two sisters – Patricia Miller and Barbara Roper; six grandchildren – Ian, Bianca, William E., Ignacia, Mya and Dante; and many nieces and nephews; brother of the late Joseph Watson and sister Frances R. Covert. A Memorial Service only will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2015 from 4 to 6 PM at Dangler Lewis and Carey Funeral Home, 312 West Main St. in Boonton. Interment will be held privately.
