Obituary of Richard Hornick

Richard L. Hornick, 86 years old, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Newton Memorial Hospital . He was born and raised in Boonton. At the age of 17 he joined the Merchant Marines. At the age of 18 he joined the US Army, proudly serving his country as a career officer for 29 years, until returning back home in 1969. Since then, Richard has lived in several towns in Morris County. After retiring from the US Army, Richard worked for Rockaway Township Police Dept. as a dispatcher and a Special Police Officer, for many years. He was a member of the Sokol Club in Boonton, and a lifetime member of NRA. Richard was the husband of the late Alice Marie & beloved husband of Ann Lee Hornick (2012); loving father of Frederic and his wife Joann, Edward and his wife Ann, Gerald and his wife Deborah, Robert Arons, Renee Arons Fuller, Francine Arons, and Mary Covert – Hornick; cherished brother of Carol Maiore, Constance Robbins, and late Joseph Sloinski; also surviving 9 Grandchildren, and many great grandchildren , along with many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Dangler Lewis and Carey Funeral Home, 312 West Main St. in Boonton , NJ at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow immediately at St. Cyril & Methodius Cemetery in Boonton. Visiting will be on Monday, April 8, 2013 from 4-8 pm at the funeral home.
