Obituary of Joseph John Mahoney

Joseph J. Mahoney Sr, 87 Boonton, NJ Joseph J. Mahoney Sr., 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the New Jersey Firemen's Home, in Boonton. He was born and raised in Boonton and remained a lifelong resident there. Joe was a heavy equipment operator for The Town of Boonton. He proudly served the US Army during the Korean War. Joe was a fifty year member of the Boonton Fire Department Harmony Hose & Engine Co. #2 and an usher for Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, in Boonton. He was an avid fan of the Mets, Jets, and the Brooklyn Dodgers. Joseph was the beloved husband of the late Jennie Mahoney (nee Barbagallo); dear father of Joseph J. Mahoney Jr. and his wife Noreen, and Claire Mahoney; cherished brother of the late John, William and James Mahoney; and also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 8:30 AM at Dangler Lewis and Carey Funeral Home, 312 West Main St., in Boonton, with a funeral mass at 9:30 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 910 Birch St, in Boonton. Interment will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, in Boonton. Family and friends may visit on Sunday, September 13, 2015 from 3 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
