Obituary of John Richard Hodgson

Dr. John Richard Hodgson," Jack " 70 Dr. John Richard Hodgson, 70 of Boonton passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday June 27, 2015. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday July 2, 2015 at The Dangler Lewis and Carey Funeral Home, 312 West Main Street Boonton, NJ 07005 at 8:30AM. Then to Our Lady of Mount Carmel 910 Birch Street for the Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM. Interment will take place at Saint Mary's Cemetery Boonton. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jack's name to: American Cancer Society, 906 Springfield Ave., Springfield , NJ 07081. Jack was born and raised in Providence Rhode Island living in Missouri before moving to Boonton in 1978. He was the Vice-President of Environmental & Regulatory Affairs at Evonik Degussa Company in Parsippany. Dr. Hodgson received his Bachelors of Science degree and his PhD from the University of Rhode Island. He also did postgraduate work at Brown University. He studied cancer research at Midwest Research Institute then earning a top reputation as a Toxicologist and Chemist. He was a member of the American Chemical Society, the Society of Toxicology and the South Boonton Field Club. Jack was the beloved husband of 50 years of Norberta ( nee Furtado). Devoted father of John R. II and his wife Ann, Kerry Hodgson, Lisa Hodgins and her husband Glenn. Loving brother of Nathaniel Walter Hodgson II and his wife Betty. Cherished grandfather of Meghan, Kristen, Julia, John III, Ryan and Jenna.
