We were Jennie's neighbors about 14 years ago. My husband Bill and I purchased his Grandmother's house next door to Jennie. She always recalled stories about the families and was a great historian about the town of Boonton and its education system. I was a new Mother raising our 2 daughters who had special needs.Jennie always delighted in seeing the girls dressed for special occasions, Halloween, Christmas and Easter. She loved learning about their progress and encouraging my husband and my efforts with our daughters. She was always a big advocate for education and advocating for those with special needs to be provided with what was necessary for that child to become all he or she could be. She was intelligent, articulate,and so very interesting. We had a surprise birthday party for her 80th with her neighbors on the other side of her house,the Schniders. The party was intended to be at our home but while frying up some ravioli,we had a bit of a fire. Boonton's finest saved the lasagna but we had to move the celebration to her home and she was so delighted. I can still see her sweeping her driveway, actively enjoying life and pleasures with friends. When we moved to Boonton Township, she gave me a beautiful vase which was part of her collection. I have it to this day and use it as part of my decorations in our dining room. I think of her when I look at the vase and as I get older, marvel at the life she lived, her energy, strength and guts she had to speak out the truth. She was unique and you were blessed to be raised by a woman well ahead of her times. Our deepest sympathy to you and your family. The William Charlton Family, Bill, Adrienne, Bridget and Jackie
