Obituary of Phyllis Regina McCormick

Please share a memory of Phyllis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Phyllis R. McCormick Like Frank Sinatra, she did it her way. Phyllis loved an adventure and managed to travel around the world twice on her own and once more with a group of sixteen strangers. Fresh out of Smith College, Phyllis worked her way across country as a barmaid in New Orleans, a ranch-hand in Texas and a waitress in Palm Springs, California. She soon turned her sights on Bermuda where she ran a guesthouse and also worked as a secretary. After a year, Phyllis and a friend decided to go to Europe where they spent several months touring (by car no less). Finally, she rested her roots and became a first grade teacher. (This may have had something to do with summers off). Traveling continued of course, and when asked where she had travelled she said, "I've never been to the South Pole!" (Assuming she had been everywhere else.) However, travel did not consume all of her time. Beginning in college, she coached third graders in football and building of model airplanes. She was a "Meals on Wheels" provider, worker in charity events and visited the sick. She last resided at Willow Valley where she worked in the mail room, front desk and continued to visit the sick. Phyllis McCormick died on March 24, 2015 following a short illness. She is survived by her niece, Ann Morfogen Weaver, wife of George, of Lancaster and their four children: Cary, Cullen, Helen, George IV and nephew, Paul Morfogen, husband of Megan, of Boonton Twp., and their children: Zachary, Augustus and Matthew and two great nephews, Jack and Frederick. Funeral services are entrusted to Dangler Lewis and Carey Funeral Home, 312 West Main Street in Boonton.
