John Steve Yansura, 86
Boonton, New Jersey
John Steve Yansura, 86 years old, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at St. Clares Hospital, in Denville. He was born and raised in Boonton and was a lifelong resident there.
Mr. Yansura proudly served in the U.S. Navy, on the aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Wasp, during World War II. He received the Asiatic Pacific Theatre, American Theatre and Victory Medals. John was also a member of Admiral Halsey’s Third Fleet and Task Force Fifty-Eight. Before retiring, he worked for AlliedSignal, now known as Honeywell, in Morristown, as a Drafting Engineer.
John was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy (nee Ferro) in 1960; loving father of Doray Yansura and Adria Kesselman; beloved brother of Helen Eaton, Leo Yansura and the late Eleanor Manocchio; and cherished grandfather of David Kesselman.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Dangler Lewis and Carey Funeral Home, 312 West Main Street, Boonton, NJ at 9:00 am, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, in Boonton. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven in East Hanover, NJ. Family and friends may visit on Friday, February 22, 2013 from 4 to 8 pm. at Funeral Home.
