Obituary of Maria Domenica Kohut

Maria Domenica Kohut, 79, of Boonton Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024 at Morristown Medical Center.

 

In observance of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, funeral service will be held at Dangler Lewis & Carey Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 10 at 9 AM. Funeral mass will be at St. Catherine’s in Mountain Lakes, NJ at 10 AM. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Boonton.

Visitation will be held from 2-6 PM on December 8. Dangler Lewis & Carey Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.

 

Maria was born at Morristown Memorial in Morristown, NJ to Rocco and Victoria Como on December 29, 1944. She lived in Boonton until the family moved to Boonton Township in 1953. She attended Morris Catholic High School, and worked at Carbone in Boonton, NJ prior to earning a bachelor’s degree in Business from Dover Business College.

In addition to raising her family, she worked as a secretary at Exxon in Florham Park, NJ. She also managed bookkeeping for John Kohut III & Son Landscaping, launched by her husband John in 1985.

She enjoyed living life to the fullest, traveling, snowmobiling, swimming in the family pool, spending time with family and friends, watching movies and shows, and attending events involving her children and grandchildren.

Maria is survived by her son, John, IV; daughter, Lisa Franklin (Christopher); grandchildren Steven, Andrew and Jessica; brother Michael D. Como, sister in-law Maureen and nephew Michael Jonathan. She is preceded in death by husband John.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Atlantic Health Hospice.
