Obituary of Joseph Nicholas Amabile

Joseph Nicholas “Bo” Amabile, 78 of Jersey City , NJ, passed away on November 4th  in West Caldwell, NJ.

Joseph was born in Jersey City, NJ to Nicholas and Josephine Amabile nee Puleo on June 18, 1944 . He  graduated from St. Mary High School in 1962. In 1969, he married Helen and moved to Parsippany, NJ for several years before settling in Montville where he resided for 30 years. He went on to earn a B.S. in Marketing from Rutgers University-Newark. He worked as a Systems Analyst for Keuffel and Esser Co (K & E) for many years before working as a consultant for various companies throughout New Jersey, Texas, and Florida. He retired in 2006.

Joe or “Bo” as most of his friends and family called him, had a quick wit and would make you laugh within a few seconds in his presence. Everyone who met Joe would most likely end up becoming a lifelong friend. He had a deep respect for the meaning of friendship and family and had many “aunts and uncles” that weren’t blood related. But that is how he viewed the important people in his life- like family, and treated them as such.

In his younger days, he would often take weekend fishing and hunting trips with friends.  He had an interest in classic and hot rod cars. And he loved owls. Despite his health challenges with multiple sclerosis, he always remained optimistic and had a positive outlook on his future. 

Joe is survived by his two children,  Jennifer of Asheville, NC  and Nick of Clifton, NJ.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen, his parents, Nicholas and Josephine and his sister, Maryann.

Visitation will be held at Dangler Lewis and Carey Funeral Home in Boonton on November 15th  from 4-8 PM. Funeral service will be held at St. Peter the Apostle Church in Parsippany on November 16th at 11 AM.

Joe always hoped there would be a cure for multiple sclerosis in his lifetime. One of his last wishes was to be a tissue donor in order to contribute to the research of this devastating disease.
