Obituary of Katherine Mary DiGiuseppe

Please share a memory of Katherine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Katherine M. DiGiuseppe, was born in Morristown and raised in Boonton, New Jersey.  Katherine was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She departed this life on July 16, 2022 at the age of 78 years old.

She was born to Hannah “Vivian” and Sylvester Muriano on October 8, 1943. After high school, Katherine studied Cosmetology and worked for many years as a hairstylist at the Park Beauty Salon in Boonton.  She married her high school sweetheart Kenneth DiGiuseppe and they had two daughters, Dawn and Diane.  After Ken’s untimely death at age 39, Katherine went to work for Bell Atlantic/Verizon as a 411 operator.  She moved up in the company, eventually retiring as a training manager.  In retirement, she went to school for her Real Estate License and worked as an agent for several years before retiring completely.

Katherine loved spending time with her family and friends; she loved to dance, go to shows and travel. Katherine was very artistic and, as an adult, took oil painting classes run by her friend Bill Guida.  Her work was amazing.  We are lucky to have her paintings to keep her creative spirit alive in our homes.  Katherine loved spending time with her grandchildren, Erin, Andrew, Dylan and Peter as well as her great-grandchildren Zoey, Emma, Benjamin and Theodore.  She was known as Grammy by Dawn’s children, Mimi by Diane’s son, and Gigi by her great grandchildren.

After the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020, Katherine went to live with her eldest daughter Dawn and her partner Tim where she stayed until her dementia made assisted living a necessity and became a resident at Arden Courts in Easton, PA at the end of December 2021.  In May, COVID ran through her assisted living facility and she contracted the virus.  It was too much for her to recover from.

Katherine is survived by her daughters Dawn Lapham and her p\artner Tim Casserly and Diane DiGiuseppe and her partner Roberto Dominguez; her grandchildren Erin Lapham, her husband Sean Herron and their children Benjamin and Theodore; grandson Andrew Lapham, his wife Misty and their children Zoey and Emma; grandson Dylan Lapham and his wife Jerneja; and grandson Peter.

Memorial visitation is scheduled for Monday, July 25th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with worids of rememberance at 12:30 PM  at the Dangler Lewis & Carey Funeral Home at 312 West Main Street, Boonton, New Jersey 07005 followed by an interment ceremony at St. Mary’s Cemetery at 910 Birch Street Boonton, New Jersey.
