Obituary of Evelyn M Castellucci

Please share a memory of Evelyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Evelyn Castellucci

Beloved wife, mother and educator.

Born in Bergen County, NJ, Evelyn lived in Mt. Lakes from 1954-1975, and Parsippany from 1975-2017 before settling in Denville 3 years ago. She  graduated from Cliffside Park High School, class of 1945.   Graduated from Franklin School of Art, (NYC) then Newark State (Kean College) to complete education credits and teaching certificate.

Initially a Commercial Art Director at Norcross (NYC), she subsequently devoted her time to what became her lifelong mission: Family and Education.

She was always young at heart, living life fully; every day, all day with the interests of all others before her own.  Widowed at an early age, she pioneered as head of household; dedicated teacher; and community volunteer with scouts and school groups.

Her teaching career spanned 50 years, with Mtn. Lakes Public Schools and St. Cecelia’s School in Rockaway.  Her dedication to education influenced scores of students during that time, but it was her genuine caring and quiet strength that resonated with all she encountered.

Funeral Mass will be held January 23 at 11AM at St Catherine of Sienna Church, Mtn. Lakes, NJ, subject to COVID protocols. Streaming also available at www.stcatherine-ml.org.  We look forward to celebrating her life with her enormous circle of family members and friends. A fitting memorial celebration will be held at a later date, to be determined, when gatherings can be safely accomplished.

In the meantime, remember her; smile; and be thankful for all our time together.

Evelyn was predeceased by her beloved husbands Robert Castellucci  (1971), and James J. White (2001).  She is survived by her loving sons Bob Castellucci (Deborah) and Steven Castellucci (Linda); her cherished grandchildren Brad, Mary, Michael and Nicole; great grandchildren Lila and Charles; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey (Hospice), 175 South Street, Morristown, NJ 07960. Arrangements are under the care of Dangler Lewis and Carey Funeral Home, 312 West Main Street, Boonton, NJ 07005. Letters of condolence may be posted at danglerlewisandcareyfuneralhome.com.
