Obituary of Donald Joseph Vasta Sr.

Please share a memory of Donald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Donald Joseph Vasta Sr. Born October 17, 1931, passed away on April 7, 2020. He was a very kind man with the biggest, brightest smile who made everyone around him feel special. His love of life, his love for his wife and family leave us with the greatest gifts a man could share.

Don was a proud 63 year resident of Montville, and a dedicated member of St Thomas More church. His passion for the New York Yankees, his golf game, which he still played until last year and his love for charity were admired by many. He was a great athlete in his prime who loved all sports, gardening and making people laugh. For 30 years he was a corporate man who later pursued many entrepreneurial ventures. He was a Korean War Veteran stationed in Germany, a member of the Knights of Columbus, International Order of Alhambra, local Parsippany Elks and Italian American club.

Don is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years Kathryne Karpovich Vasta, along with their seven children, Joanne Loughney (husband Jay), Donald J Vasta Jr, Teresa Vasta (husband Mark), Marie Tarmy (husband Stuart), Stephen Vasta, Kathy Goldberg (husband Allen), Lori Anthony (husband Al), along with their 13 grandchildren Jim (wife Leah), Chris (wife Molly), Anthony, Jennifer Baggot (husband Alex) Joe, Luke, Ian, Kristina, Elaina, Sam, Ben, Joey, Bella, their great-grandson Jaxson and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Dad, thank you for your sense of humor, loyalty, devotion and selflessness you shared.
