So saddened by the loss of a wonderful woman like Carmella. I was her mailman and her friend. She had a way about her. Her kind and generous nature. I loved her bluntness and amazing sense of humor. I would laugh so hard when she and her nephew, MichaeI would start going back and forth. They were better than most comedy teams! Carmella loved her family and they loved her. I actually used to take my 10 minute breaks in her kitchen. She always offered a treat; whether it be a Hostess cupcake or a candy bar. I had full access to her fridge to grab a cold drink on a hot day. If I was really lucky, Carmella baked something. Her lemon merengue pie was legendary. She always saved me a huge piece which I would wolf down at her kitchen table as she proudly watched. We shared stories. She knew Teresa and my kids. When she made her delicious Italian biscuits, she always sent me home with a bagful for Teresa. Teresa loved them! The last time I visited Carmella in the hospital, my son, Tommy came along. She was weak but her smile was still there. After I retired, I would occasionally drive into Boonton to visit her. She still had my Christmas cards displayed on her refrigerator. I would pick up her favorite...Wendy’s cheeseburger or a plant for her windowsill. She would always tell me not to bring anything. I would try but I could never repay all the good she brought to my life. Until we meet again, rest easy, Carmella. Thank you for the laughter and love. XO
