John Hull Dorsey, 80, of Boonton Township

John Hull Dorsey, 80, of Boonton Township passed away on December 16, 2018, at Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pequannock.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Dangler, Lewis and Carey Funeral Home, 312 West Main Street, Boonton, NJ 07005. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 226 Cornelia St., Boonton, NJ 07005. Interment will follow immediately at Whitehall Methodist Church Cemetery in Towaco. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s name to St. John’s Episcopal Church.

John graduated from Blair Academy, Yale College (1959) and Yale Law School (1962). He served six years in the U.S. Army Reserve. He practiced law for 51 years, including 42 years at the firm now known as Dorsey and Semrau located at 714 Main Street, Boonton. John also served his community as an Assemblyman (1976-1978) and a Senator (1978-1994) in the New Jersey State Legislature.

Born in Newark, raised in Towaco, John has lived in Boonton Township since 1964. He was a faithful member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Boonton and a member of the Deer Lake Club.

John is survived by his beloved daughters Jennifer Hull Dorsey (George Nisbet) and Stephanie Jean Dorsey, and their mother, Susan Dewitt Dorsey; his cherished grandchildren Josephine, Casey, Daijin and Violet; and his faithful home health aide Monica Kissi.
