Obituary of Joseph Louis Frey

Joseph Frey, 88, of Byram, New Jersey died on June 6, 2018.  Joseph is survived by his daughter Cheryl Shane and her husband, Simon and daughter Susan Hunt and her husband, John, son Joel Frey and his wife, Kerstin, stepson Dennis Ayres, numerous grandchildren, and brother Donald Frey and his wife, Ann. He is also survived by his loving partner Betty Harris and her children Beverly Pappalardo and her husband, Pat, Susan Kultys and her husband, Matt, Paul Harris, Scott Harris, and Betty’s many grandchildren. Joseph is predeceased in death by his wife Thelma Kessler-Frey, former wife Gloria Frey and daughter, Karen who died in infancy. 

 

Joseph was born on May 12, 1930 in Tottenville, Staten Island to Joseph and Ida Frey. He proudly served in the Air Force for four years. He worked in architecture for 51 years and was a partner at a leading architectural firm for 20 years. 

 

Joseph was a social, active man who enjoyed square dancing, cards with friends and attending church. He had a lifelong love of aviation and animals. Family will lovingly remember him for his detailed carpentry and handyman skills.

 

Services are scheduled for Joseph beginning at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12 at the First Presbyterian Church of Stanhope with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall. Pastor Hugh Matlack will officiate. All are welcome to attend. Joseph will be interred at 3p.m. at Old Moravian/German Valley Rural Cemetery in Long Valley, NJ. Memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Stanhope, 100 Main St/P.O. Box 212, Stanhope, NJ 07874.  Condolences may be offered in care of the church.
