Frederick K. Weiss Jr., 101, of Boonton Township

Frederick K. Weiss Jr., 101, of Boonton Township, passed away on May 8, 2018 at his residence. Born in Newark, NJ, Fred moved to Boonton with his family as a young child. A graduate of Boonton High School, he continued to reside there until he was 24 years old. He married his late wife Marie, and moved to Lake Arrowhead. After residing there for 8 years, they settled in Boonton Township. The property was sold and then bought back in 2013, where Fred spent the remainder of his life.                               

Mr. Weiss was the owner of the Mechanical Institute located at 311 Mechanic St. in Boonton.   He also spent time on the farm and making the property up to his standards. The cleaned up farm was a joy to the community. People would often stop by to compliment him on his work. Mr. Weiss was involved in with the Elks club for over 75 years and the Rockaway Valley Country Club for over 50 years.

Fred was predeceased by his beloved wife Marie; his beloved sons Anthony Weiss and Frederick R. Weiss; his adored grandson Frederick Weiss IV; and sister Juanna Gonda. Fred is survived by his cherished grandchildren Anthony Weiss, Eugene Weiss and Christopher Weiss and his great grandson Frederick Weiss V.

Visitation for Fred will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 3-7 PM at the Dangler, Lewis and Carey Funeral Home, 312 West Main Street, Boonton, NJ 07005. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Our lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 910 Birch Street, Boonton, NJ 07005. Interment will follow immediately at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Fred’s name to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
