Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mary Patricia Nolan -- June 26, 1931 – March 9, 2024

Mary Patricia Nolan passed away on March 9, 2024, at Victoria Mews in Boonton Township, NJ. The daughter of Patrick and Anna Nolan (nee Kenny), Mary was born in 1931 in Jersey City, NJ.

Mary spent her formative years in Jersey City, graduating from St. Aloysius High School in 1949. After graduation, she proudly worked for 47 years: at Colgate Company in New York City (later named Colgate-Palmolive), at St. Francis Hospital in Jersey City as an assistant administrator and finally at Johnson & Higgins Insurance Company in New York City (now Marsh McLennan), where she was an executive administrative assistant until her retirement in 1996.

Upon her retirement, Mary moved to Chatham, NJ, where she was a member of the Chatham Women’s Club and lovingly took care of her mother until her passing. In her later years, Mary moved to Denville and then Boonton Township to be close to her family.

Mary was a devout Catholic and a long-time member of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church and St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, both in Jersey City. Throughout her life, Mary’s piety and boundless charity to friends and loved ones set a tremendous example to those who knew her. She never hesitated to express her deep love for her God and her family, and her laughter was always a sign that a family gathering was going well.

Throughout her life, Mary enjoyed keeping up with current events and was a lifelong member of the Republican Party.

Mary is predeceased by her parents, her sister Grace Horan and brothers Joseph and Richard Nolan.

Mary was a devoted aunt and enjoyed spoiling her many nieces and nephews.  She is survived by nieces and nephews; Donna Grant, Brian Horan, Cathy Dunn, Gerilyn Horan, Joseph and Gregory Nolan; and several grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces and great grandnephews.

Godspeed to Mary, who showed us how to live a Christ-like life.

Visitation will be held at Dangler Lewis Funeral Home at 312 W. Main St. in Boonton on Tuesday, March 12 from 4-7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Mountain Lakes at 10 am on Wednesday, March 13. Interment will be at Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City.
