Josephine Katherine Lasalandra, 92 of Boonton

Josephine Katherine Lasalandra, 92 of Boonton passed away on September 10, 2018 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. Josephine was a lifelong resident of Boonton. Josephine’s life began on October 18, 1925 at 111 Morris Avenue (later Monroe Street). She was one of 10 children born to John and Anna (Di Odoardo) who separately emigrated from Italy.

Josephine was a Dominican Nun for twenty years known as Sister Bartholomew at St. Mary’s Church in Clark. Upon returning to laity, Josephine worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Barnabas Hospital in Livingston. Josephine was a member of the Rosary Society and taught CCD both at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Boonton. She was also a member of the Labor First District #1199.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 910 Birch Street, Boonton, NJ 07005. Interment will follow immediately at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Boonton. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations in Josephine’s name be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.

Josephine was predeceased by her parents, brothers baby John, Walter and his wife Isabel, Angelo, Michael, Clarence and his wife Dolores Lasalandra, Anthony Lasalandra and his sister Mary Dolores Leone and her husband William. Josephine is survived by her sister-in-law Patricia Lasalandra and beloved nephew Anthony J. and his fiancée Danielle Downing and her girls Olivia and Ava Kern; her brother John (Hotchie) and his wife Angelina (Chili) Lasalandra; sister Carmella Lasalandra; her sisters-in-law Grace and Viginia Lasalandra and many nieces and nephews.
