Virginia Ann “Ginny” Dolce, 86, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2026, with family members by her side.

Ginny was born in Brooklyn, New York, on May 28, 1940, the third of three children of Frank Venito, a flooring salesman as well as entertainer (flamenco dancer) and Angela “Julia” (Beradino) Venito, a seamstress. Following the death of her father, Ginny moved with her mother and siblings to Boonton, New Jersey, where she would make her home for much of her life. It was in Boonton that her mother met and married Larry Bontempo, a tailor; in the 1950s the two founded B & V Cleaners in Mountain Lakes – a business they and family ran for many decades.  Ginny graduated from Boonton High School in June 1958, and it was there that she met Neil Dolce.

Ginny married Neil in May 1960, shortly after graduating from high school. Together, they raised their four children in Boonton. Although they later divorced in 1982, Neil survives her, along with their children: Frank (Barbara), Julia, Susan Lewczyk (Larry), and Daniel (Dawn).

Ginny was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her 14 grandchildren: Alana, Frank Jr., Steven Seamans (Rachel), Bryan Seamans (Leigh Burton), Amanda Patten; Shayne, Lawren, and Julianna Lewczyk; Colleen, Danielle (Brandon Foltz), Chelsea Rodriguez (Jason), Daniel, Briana Wheeler (Micah), Ashly Ataian (Navid); and 15 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sister, Theresa Whritenour, and eight cherished nephews: Robert (Carol), Larry (the late Kim), Jim (Alberto Victorino), Joseph (Robin), John (Lori), Michael (Kacy), Frank (Danielle), and David (Amy), as well as numerous grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, and great-grandnephews. She was predeceased by her brother in law, Robert Whritenour.  She was also  predeceased by her brother Joseph and his wife, Margaret Their children, Joseph Jr. and Mary Lombardo, survive her.

In 1983, Ginny moved first to Arizona and then to Nevada, eventually settling in San Francisco, where she lived for many years. She later returned to Boonton in 2008, once again making the community she loved her home.

Faith was an important part of Ginny’s life. She was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Boonton and was active in numerous church organizations, including the Catholic Daughters of America, Daughters of Mary, and the Rosary Altar Society. She became a Eucharistic minister in 1990 and spent many years singing in the church choir. Her faith and her church community remained an important part of her life throughout the years.

Ginny and Neil were also active members of the Boonton Chapter of UNICO. For many years, they operated Rasmussen’s Prime Meats in Boonton, a butcher shop, deli, catering business, and gourmet food shop that became well known throughout Boonton and the Mountain Lakes area.

During her years in San Francisco, Ginny worked as regional comptroller at Landmark Education, where she traveled extensively with the company assisting with seminars. She also managed the San Francisco-based folk/rock band Acoustic Son. After returning to New Jersey, she was appointed as an officer of the Boonton Housing Authority.

Ginny made friends wherever life took her, and she leaves behind many people in Boonton, Nevada, and San Francisco who will remember her fondly. Above all, she loved her family, her friends, and her church. She had a generous spirit and a deep love of bringing people together. Those who knew her will especially remember the large Italian meals she prepared for family and friends, many made from beloved recipes she learned from her mother, Julia, affectionately known to many as “G.G.”

Ginny’s warmth, humor, generosity, faith, and love for her family will be deeply missed. Her memory will live on through the many people whose lives she touched and through the traditions, stories, recipes, and love she passed down to her family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 28, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Dangler, Lewis & Carey Funeral Home, 312 West Main Street, Boonton, New Jersey. Interment will be private and attended by immediate family on August 29.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ginny’s memory to Blood Cancer United (formerly The Leukemia Society of America), a favorite charity of hers because she lost her father to leukemia at a very young age.
