Michael Joseph Stora Obituary

Michael Joseph Stora passed away on July 17, 2026, at the age of 78 after a long battle with Inclusive Body Myositis (IBM). He was born on September 14, 1947, in Dilles Bottom, Ohio.

Michael grew up in Powhatan Point, Ohio, with his three younger brothers and graduated from Powhatan Point High School in 1965. Following high school, he attended The Ohio State University before answering the call to serve his country by joining the United States Navy and the Submarine Service.

While attending Submarine School in Groton, Connecticut, Michael met the love of his life, Debbie Condy. They were married on June 13, 1970, beginning a loving partnership that would span more than 56 years.

His first assignment was aboard the USS Sunfish (SSN-649), a nuclear-powered fast-attack submarine, where he earned his coveted U.S. Navy Submarine Warfare Insignia, known as the "Dolphins." Among his many accomplishments during his naval career, he served aboard the USS Pogy (SSN-647) as a sonar technician and later at Submarine Squadron One as an Electronic Material Officer. After serving his country with honor, Michael received an honorable discharge from active duty and continued his commitment to military service by reenlisting in the United States Navy Reserve.

Following his military career, Michael and Debbie settled in Boonton, New Jersey, where he founded his own company, ModIntech. Through hard work, integrity, and determination, he built both a successful business and a life centered on family, faith, and service to others.

Above all else, Michael was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his family and took immense pride in the lives and accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He faced the challenges of Inclusive Body Myositis with remarkable strength, courage, and dignity, inspiring those around him with his resilience and unwavering spirit.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Debbie; his daughters, Michele (Carlos) Cruz, Joelle (Ryan) Johnson, and Danielle (Christopher) Stoveken; his six cherished grandchildren, Jessica, Connor, Christopher Jr., Evan, Zachary, and Kayley; and his brothers, Chuck (Debbie), Joe (Barb), and Jerry (Sue). He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
