William Joseph Hardy Obituary
William Joseph Hardy, 77, a man of determination, wit, and charm passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside on May 29,2026.
Predeceased by his parents, Edmond (1998) and Ann (2014); he is survived by his children: Rory, his granddog, Beau, and Sean and his wife Barbra, his two granddaughters Josephine and Marlee, his brother, Ed and his wife, Pat; his sister, Maureen Dugan, and her husband, Chris; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to being an avid golfer, Bill was best known for his mathematical genius, comedic timing, and his sometimes fanatical devotion to Elvis Presley, the Yankees, and Mickey Mantle, in particular.
A graduate of Notre Dame University, Bill’s career as a high school mathematics teacher spanned 45 years, beginning in Boonton, and subsequently, Sparta. He continued tutoring after retirement, thus nurturing another generation of future mathematicians. His impact on the students he served is an important part of his legacy.
Most of all, Bill will be remembered as a loving son, brother, father, and friend. His dynamic energy and genuine love of life was contagious; and his ability to see the humor in almost any situation was a real gift.
A celebration of life will take place at Dangler, Lewis & Carey Funeral Home, 312 W. Main Street, Boonton, NJ on a date to be determined shortly.
