Edward McVey Obituary

Edward Donald McVey, 81, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026. A lifelong resident of New Jersey, Ed’s roots ran deep in the communities he called home. He grew up in West New York, later lived in Fairview and Palisades Park, and eventually settled in Boonton, where he spent his later years.

Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Grace McVey, as well as his mother, father, sister, and nephew. Despite the losses he endured, he carried himself with resilience, humor, and a gift for connection that made him unforgettable to all who crossed his path.

Ed proudly served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964, spending much of his service stationed in Germany. His time in the Army shaped his character and deepened his appreciation for camaraderie, discipline, and the people he met throughout his life.

After his service, Ed built a long and memorable career in the cigar industry, where his personality and passion made a lasting mark. Known for his colorful storytelling and his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, he became a beloved figure among colleagues and customers alike. His impact was such that a cigar was even named in his honor — Easy Eddie Stogies — a fitting tribute to his charm, warmth, and unmistakable presence.

He is survived by his niece Linda Gargano and her husband Frank, his nephew Mark LaMonte and his wife Melissa, his nephew John Richard Ricciardi Jr., and his sister‑in‑law Joan Ricciardi. He is also survived by his cherished grandnieces and grandnephews: Stephanie Gargano, Melanie Trillo and her husband Brian Trillo, Peter Gargano and his fiancée Maite Whitley, Mason LaMonte, and Keilah LaMonte. Ed held deep affection for his family, and they will remember him for his humor, his kindness, and the spark he brought into every room.

Ed’s life was defined by connection — the conversations, the laughter, and the relationships he built over a lifetime spent in the state he loved. His family takes comfort in knowing he is reunited with Grace and the loved ones who went before him, and that his stories, spirit, and warmth will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
