Josephine Godshall Spender   1983-2025

Josephine Godshall Spender beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, and aunt passed away December 30th at Chilton Hospital in Pequannock, NJ after a courageous fight with illness.

She was born in Columbia, SC in 1983 to Stanyarne and Corinne Godshall. Josephine attended Myrtle Beach High School before attending Lander University and Horry Georgetown Technical College and went on to work as a paralegal.

Josephine was a devoted mother to Andy, her pride and joy, wife to Douglas of nearly 10years, and beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Josie to her friends and family, and aunt Jojo to her nieces and nephew.

Josephine was preceded in death by grandparents Josephine, Robert, Martha Jane, William, Uncle Bobby and Aunt Claudia. She is survived by Husband Douglas and his parents, Doug and Lisa, Son Andy, Brother-in-law Matt, Parents Stanyarne and Corinne, Brother Cole, Sister-in-law Leslie, Nephew Jack, and Nieces Caroline, Claudia, and Callie who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.  She is also survived by numerous loving uncles, aunts and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 10th from 11-2pm at Dangler Lewis and Carey Funeral Home in Boonton NJ. A service will be held in South Carolina at a later date. In leu of flowers, donations can be made to Josephine’s favorite charities, St. Jude’s, The Lupas Foundation of America, and Planned Parenthood.
