Barbara Giordano Obituary

In memory of Barbara Giordano

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Barbara Giordano (nee Yurkon) on December 20, 2025, at the age of 88.

Barbara was born of Russian and Ukrainian decent on August 19, 1937, in Jersey City NJ, and raised there along with three siblings, Paul, Dorothy and Elizabeth.  As a teenager Barbara loved fashion, and at a young age began working small jobs to buy her own clothes, shoes and accessories.

Later she married and had three children, Anthony, Jennifer and Deborah and built the home she would then live in for almost 60 years.  She loved Boonton but also loved the sun and fun of St. Petersburg Florida where she resided at times during the year.

Over the years, she worked at Johannson Manufacturing, General Dynamics and Novartis, and then retired from St Elizabeth’s University, managing the library budget.

Barbara became a travel agent and saw the world, visiting places like Italy, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Morocco, to name a few.  Culturally, one of her fondest trips was to Indiana for her 70th birthday where she and Debbie spent a weekend at a Pierogi Fest.  She loved going out to dinner, Broadway shows and trips to the Casino and was a member of the Boonton Elks.  She also became a real estate agent and used her skills to invest in real estate.

Her greatest hobby was shopping, often buying things for family or building up her shoe and handbag collection.  There wasn’t a TJMaxx she couldn’t find no matter where she traveled.  She loved her plants and trees in her backyard, often overseeing new additions to the landscaping.

Barbara is survived by her children, Deborah Giordano (Dena), Jennnifer Giordano and Anthony Giordano; grandchildren Rachel Giordano, Bradley Van splinter and Nicole Giordano; sister Betty Haines; her beloved dog Sacha; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is predeceased by her partner Larry Sinou, brother Paul Yurkon and sister Dorothy Haines.

Barbara will be remembered for her independence, strength and love for her family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Friday, December 26, 2025, from
