Dominick Vincent Giordano Obituary

Dominick V. Giordano, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and long-time resident of Boonton, NJ, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, at the Larson Health Center in Fort Myers, Florida.

Born on May 6, 1928, in Morristown, NJ, to Mario and Mary Giordano, Dominick grew up in Boonton and graduated from Boonton High School in 1946. As a young man, he worked at J.J. Newberry's on Main Street, where his strong work ethic began to take shape.

Dominick proudly served his country in both the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and later in the US Army during the Korean War, serving in Japan. After completing his service, he began a career at Schering-Plough in Bloomfield, NJ. While working there, he earned his accounting degree from Rutgers University and met the love of his life, Babs. They were married in 1956 and spent more than 50 wonderful years together in Boonton.

Later in his career, Dominick worked for the US Customs Service in New York City and Newark, where he spent the last 20 years of his professional life.

A dedicated member of the Walter J. Barrett Council of the Knights of Columbus, Dominick found joy in volunteering, attending the group's annual retreat, and, of course, the beloved beefsteak dinners. A proud veteran, he looked forward to attending the Veterans Day luncheon each year with his son and daughter-in-law, both fellow veterans.

Dominick cherished Boonton's annual Labor Day celebrations—the parade, the family picnics, and especially the fair, where he always made sure Babs got her favorite sausage and pepper sandwich.

A man of deep faith, Dominick was a long-time parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Boonton. He served faithfully as a Eucharistic Minister and participated in parish council activities over the years.

Above all, Dominick treasured time spent with family, sharing meals, laughter, and a good glass of wine.

He is survived by his beloved children: John (Lynne) Giordano of Fairfax, VA; Maureen (Gary) Saage of Sanibel, FL; and Ann (Bill) Patterson of Boonton, NJ. He also leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Gary (Vanessa) Saage and their son, Bennett; Brian Giordano; Kevin (Kelsey) Saage and their son, Owen; Amy Giordano; Brendan Saage; Jessica (Adam) Kiss; and Ashley Patterson. He is preceded in death by his wife, Babs, and his sister, Fay Kufta.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 9, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Dangler Lewis & Carey Funeral Home, 312 West Main Street, Boonton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 10, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 910 Birch Street, Boonton, at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Dominick's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942, or visit stjude.org.
