Anna Emma Yelpo Obituary

Anna Emma Yelpo, 91, a resident of Boonton for 61 years, passed away on Sunday, July 13th. Born and raised in North Bergen, NJ, Ann attended Emerson High School. Not long after graduation she met her husband, Joseph Yelpo, after which they began their 72 years together. Married in 1956, they spent their first year married living abroad while Joe was in the Army stationed in Germany. This is where Ann began her lifelong love of travel and the natural beauty of the places she visited. She and her husband went on to have four children, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Kind and warmhearted, yet strong and resilient, Ann truly touched the lives of many throughout her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend who treasured family gatherings and loved cooking for all. Her family meant the world to her and she was extremely proud of the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Holidays at Ann’s home created memories and celebrated traditions that will be passed down for generations. She enjoyed reading, going to plays, spending time on the Jersey shore, and any activity with her family and friends, especially if it included ice cream.

She is survived by her loving husband Joe; four children Teresa Huggins (Don), Joe Yelpo (Beverly), Patricia Scalera (Steve), and Steven Yelpo (Marguerite); eight grandchildren Alexis Thoma, Katelin Thoma, Jennifer Yelpo, Ashley Yelpo, Kirsten Scott (Brad), Stephanie Scalera, Steven Yelpo and Michael Yelpo; and two great-grandchildren Sadie and Everly. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leandro and Ilde Travaglini.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Ann’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
